Florida football senior cornerback Jason Marshall Jr. and wide receiver Eugene Wilson III have been ruled out for UF’s game on Saturday in Jacksonville against rival Georgia (3:30 p.m., ABC), per the SEC’s availability report.
Marshall, the best cover corner for the Florida Gators, injured his shoulder during UF’s 48-20 win over Kentucky on Oct. 19 before the open week.
Meanwhile, Wilson sat out three games after undergoing a knee procedure earlier this season, but is back on the shelf after playing against Tennessee and Kentucky. He’s third in receiving for UF with 19 catches for 266 yards and a TD in four games.
With Marshall out, junior Devin Moore will move into the lead cover corner role for Florida, with Dijon Johnson and Trikweze Bridges playing the opposite corner. Florida could also turn to sophomore cornerback Cormani McClain, who returned an interception for a touchdown against Kentucky, for some stretches. McClain, a former five-star recruit from Lakeland, transferred from Colorado to Florida as a preferred walk-on last spring.
“He’s still learning the defense,” Napier said. “There’s a lot of concepts, but overall, he’s got a smile on his face. I see him connecting with teammates. He’s obviously more self-disciplined. He’s doing a good job. We don’t have any issues with him. He’s growing up, he’s still very much a work in progress, but he’s getting better.”
Starting running back Montrell Johnson Jr., meanwhile, remains questionable after suffering a knee injury against Tennessee. He sat out during UF’s last game against Kentucky. With Johnson out, freshman running back Jadan Baugh picked up the slack against UK, rushing for 106 yards and tying a UF record with five rushing TD.
Starting right guard Dameion George Jr. also is listed as questionable.
Georgia defensive backs Joenel Aguero and Dan Jackson are…
