Texas A&M (7-1, 5-0 SEC) will head to Columbia (SC) on Friday before taking on South Carolina (4-3, 2-3 SEC) for the Aggies’ third SEC road game after defeating Florida and Mississippi State on the road earlier this season. Looking like the toughest defense the Aggies will face, head coach Mike Elko is well aware of the challenge ahead in the trenches.
This week, the focus has continued to be centered around Texas A&M’s quarterback dilemma. Redshirt freshman QB Marcel Reed took over the second half of Saturday’s win over LSU after starting quarterback Conner Weigman struggled going into the third quarter. Reed scored three rushing touchdowns while leading the offense to five consecutive scoring drives.
Even though a large portion of the fan base believes Marcel Reed has earned the starting job after his memorable performance, Elko has continued to state that a full week of practice with equal reps for both players will provide an answer, likely as late as Saturday afternoon before the 6:30 p.m. kickoff.
