Who is Texas football’s most improved player? Give me tight end Gunnar Helm | Golden

The Texas football team is off this week, but an amazing season in the sport rages on.

Following the bye, Texas (7-1, 3-1) will close out the regular season with four games against Florida, Arkansas, Kentucky and Texas A&M. The Florida and Kentucky dates are home games. The Longhorns will visit their old rivals at Arkansas and Texas A&M.

Texas is in solid standing as far as the postseason is concerned. The Longhorns could earn an automatic bid to the College Football Playoff — and a first-round bye — by winning the SEC Championship game. Their path to Atlanta is cloudy, though, because the SEC standings are a tiebreaker-ridden mess. Texas is one of four teams with one conference loss chasing Texas A&M, which is 5-0 in SEC play and travels to South Carolina this week.

Which Longhorn has raised his NFL draft stock the most?

Tight end Gunnar Helm.

Defensive backs Michael Taaffe and Jahdae Barron have been great in their final seasons in the secondary, but Helm has been exceptional as a pass catcher; he leads the team with 31 receptions and 419 receiving yards. Those numbers have come in eight games. In his previous 39 games entering this season, he had 19 catches for 236 yards, all coming in the past two years as a backup to Ja’Tavion Sanders.
