ASU’s Justin Wodtly received an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty and was ejected from the game against Oklahoma State late in the first quarter.
The reason for the ejection, according to the referee?
Spitting on a player.
Yes, spitting.
Wodtly was furious about the call, arguing his case to coach Kenny Dillingham. The Fox broadcast did not have video of the play.
ASU’s Javan Robinson intercepted Oklahoma State’s Alan Bowman at the ASU 48 for the first turnover of the game right before the penalty on Wodtly, which left ASU short-handed at defensive end.
The Sun Devils had a 7-0 lead on Oklahoma State at the time of the ejection, but Oklahoma State drove for the tying score early in the second quarter.
