Purdue football’s TD reception leader out against Northwestern

WEST LAFAYETTE − Purdue football gained a Georgia transfer receiver this week with CJ Smith available for the first time this season Saturday against Northwestern.

The Boilermakers also lose a former Bulldog receiver turned Boilermaker.

De’Nylon Morrissette will miss his first game for Purdue, among five players listed as out for Saturday’s noon kickoff at Ross-Ade Stadium.

Morrissette, who has started four of the last five games and played in all seven contests this season, has 9 receptions for 89 yards and is tied for the team lead with two touchdown receptions.

Another former Georgia Bulldog, cornerback Nyland Green, is listed as questionable but expected to return after missing a game against Oregon two weeks ago. Green started three straight contests before the Oregon game after returning from a foot injury.

Freshman safety Ty Hudkins also is listed as questionable.

Other inactives for the Boilermakers include defensive tackle Damarjhe Lewis, who’ll miss his third straight game, defensive tackle Jamarius Dinkins and offensive linemen Bakyne Coly and Josh Sales Jr.
