Shamari Earls, top-100 2025 DB, flips from Georgia to Michigan football

The Michigan football recruiting train is officially speeding up.

The latest stop: Chester, Virginia, where the Wolverines flipped one-time Georgia commit Shamari Earls into their latest 2025 pledge. The news broke late Friday night on social media.

“After deep though and reflection, I have made the decision to recommit from the University of Georgia,” the Thomas Dale High defensive back posted on social media. “This decision comes down to personal reasons and finding the best possible fit for me both academically and athletically. I am beyond thrilled to commit to the University of Michigan.

Earls, a four-star defensive back, is ranked by 247 Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 2 player in Virginia, the No. 11 cornerback in the nation and No. 87 player overall in the country. He’s U-M’s second flip Friday as Michigan makes its finishing push before the start of the early signing period, just more than a month out on Dec. 4.

Michigan flipped three-star defensive lineman Benny Patterson from Cincinnati in the morning.
