How long has it been since Dwight won a playoff football game?
It was long enough ago that the head coach for the Trojans was a young man named Norm Eash. The team DTHS defeated was Fairbury-Cropsey. The year was 1983.

It took 41 years for the Trojans to chalk up playoff win No. 2, which they did Friday night with a 41-13 thumping of Momence in the first round of the Class 2A playoffs at MHS.
“Forty-one points for 41 years we hadn’t had a playoff win,” DTHS senior running back Dylan Crouch said.
Although the game plan may not have necessarily called for 41 points, that what the Trojans tallied. It was the final mark of what was anticipated.
“Right before we came out, I said, ‘let’s make a little history tonight and end this 41-year drought,’” DTHS head coach Luke Standiford said. “That’s exactly what they did. They came out and got the job done.”

Standiford said the idea was to try to keep the speedy Momence offense in check. He didn’t want to get beat deep. Instead, he wanted Momence to have to move the ball more efficiently. As it turned out, MHS quarterback Erick Castillo got knocked out of the game midway through the second quarter. He had just picked up three yard and an apparent first down when Dwight’s Dylan Crouch put a hit on him and forced a fumble. Castillo, who had broken ribs coming into the contest, was unable to continue.
“We did a good job of that for the most part,” Standiford said. “There were a couple of blown coverages, but through the night we executed the plan that we put in.”
Dwight held Momence to 210 yards of offense.
