Of course, Texas A&M’s 44-20 loss to South Carolina is a large blemish on what has been a very successful season thus far. Poor defense, including 25 missed tackles against the Gamecocks, resulted in a drubbing inside a packed and loud Williams-Brice Stadium.
However, the season isn’t in jeopardy. The Aggies still have a firm grip on their postseason destination. They are tied atop the SEC standings at 5-1 and have three regular season games remaining after this week’s bye. This control should reassure the fans that the season is far from over.
Even so, OC Collin Klein’s lack of imagination, seen on nearly every second-half drive, didn’t help QB Marcel Reed, who struggled in the pocket while the running game was shut down after Le’Veon Moss’s early knee injury. Texas A&M’s offense under Klein has become a talking point and will continue until improvement comes to fruition.
Things became clearer around the rest of the SEC as Georgia, Tennessee, and Ole Miss won to keep pace in the SEC Championship race. After Week 10, here are the updated SEC Standings ahead of the Week 11 slate:
