Week 10 of college football is in the books. And while LSU didn’t play, we still had some Sunday morning rankings updates.
LSU moved up two spots in ESPN’s FPI, now sitting 12th nationally. LSU’s rating remained static, but LSU moved up thanks to the falls of Clemson and Texas A&M.
LSU’s rating places the Tigers sixth in the SEC. Texas sits atop the conference and the country with a rating of 26.0, while Alabama, Georgia, Ole Miss, and Tennessee rank in the top 10.
ESPN’s efficiency ratings rank LSU’s offense as the ninth best in the country while the defense sits 28th. When it comes to strength of record, a measure that evaluates how impressive a team’s record vs schedule is, LSU is 12th.
FPI ratings don’t always match what is seen on the field, but the system has a good read on LSU. The FPI ranking isn’t that far off from where LSU stands in the polls.
Computer ratings are fun, but a much more important poll will be unveiled on Tuesday night with the release of the initial College Football Playoff rankings.
