Memphis football’s Nov. 16 home game against UAB at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium will kick off at 7 p.m., the schools announced Monday.
It will be televised on ESPN2.
The matchup will be the latest edition of the “Battle for the Bones,” a rivalry between the two schools that dates to 1997. The two teams did not play from 2012 to 2023 because they were in different conferences, but the rivalry was restarted last year in Birmingham. Memphis won that game, 45-21.
That meant the Tigers kept hold of the 94-pound rack of ribs that serves as the trophy for the game. It’ll again be on the line when the Tigers and Blazers meet. That will also be Senior Day for Memphis.
In addition to the game, the rivalry includes a barbecue contest before the game.
Memphis (7-2, 3-2 AAC) is at home on Friday night to take on Rice. The Tigers are coming off a loss at UTSA that put a serious damper on their AAC title hopes and knocked them out of College Football Playoff contention.
UAB (2-6, 1-4) hosts UConn in a non-conference game on Saturday. The Blazers earned their first conference win of the season last weekend when they beat Tulsa 59-21.
