Time to vote: Choose from big-time stars on Rockford area’s Athlete of the Week poll

When the games get bigger, the performances do, too. And this week there are plenty of stars to choose from as you decide who deserves your vote as the Rockford Register Star’s High School Athlete of the Week.

You can go to rrstar.com or vote on the poll below, and the voting ends at noon on Friday.

You can nominate someone for the Athlete of the Week poll by sending an email to [email protected] before 10 a.m. on Mondays, with some information on why that athlete deserves to be nominated.

This week’s nominees are:

Bucher, a junior, ran for 207 yards on four carries, scoring touchdowns on each, in a 35-20 win Class 6A playoff win over Maple Park Kaneland. He clinched the victory with a 60-yard TD run in the final two minutes and also started on defense.

Caiden Gates, Boylan football

Gates ran for a season-high 96 yards on nine carries in Boylan’s 26-0 win over Class 4A No. 1-seed Chicago South Shore. He also made four tackles on defense.

Cooper Hoffman, Durand/Pecatonica football

Du-Pec’s Cooper Hoffman (3) runs past Genoa-Kingston defense during the first round of playoffs on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024, at Pecatonica High School.
