Indianapolis All-City football team: Bishop Chatard, Cathedral players take top honors

Bishop Chatard senior tight end Harrison Forestal is the City offensive player of the year and Cathedral safety Jack Lockhart the defensive player of the year by a vote of the City coaches.

The 6-3, 220-pound Forestal, one of Chatard’s top blockers, has 27 catches for 234 yards and three touchdowns this season for Class 4A fourth-ranked Chatard (8-2), which will play at Roncalli on Friday for the Sectional 22 championship. Forestal had 46 catches for 434 yards last season for Chatard’s undefeated state title team.

Lockhart, also a senior, leads Cathedral’s defense with 60 tackles, including 4 ½ for a loss, along with three interceptions, one fumble recovery, one caused fumble and a blocked field goal for Cathedral, which will play at No. 1 Lawrence North for the Class 6A Sectional 6 championship on Friday.

In the other individual awards voted on by the coaches, Cathedral receiver Devaughn Slaughter was selected as the athlete of the year and Anthony King of Crispus Attucks as the coach of the year.

Slaughter, a senior, has 32 receptions for 480 yards and five touchdown catches this season and is averaging 27.2 yards on kickoff returns. He has 91 catches for 914 yards and 12 TDs for his high school career to date.

King, in his first season with Attucks, led the Tigers to a 6-2 record and first place in the Capital City Conference.
