What Oregon football’s Dan Lanning said about Ducks’ matchup vs. Maryland

Coming off another victory by multiple scores in Big Ten play against Michigan this past weekend, the No. 1 Oregon football team will return to Autzen Stadium to take on Maryland this Saturday.

The game is set to kick off at 4 p.m.

Here are some highlights from Oregon coach Dan Lanning’s weekly press conference Monday night.

Oregon football has a plan as key injuries to Tez Johnson, Marcus Harper II arise

Though he didn’t rule either player out for the season, the Ducks could be without leading receiver Tez Johnson and starting offensive lineman Marcus Harper II this week against Maryland.

The Ducks have already dealt with injuries to stars like Jordan Burch and Terrance Ferguson and have seen players step up to fill the void left by those stars this season.

“I’m confident we have a plan,” Lanning said. “There’s a lot of guys that can play winning football for us right now. Who that’ll be come Saturday, I’ll leave that for us to figure out in-house, but we’ve got a lot of guys that can play winning football for us and there will be some guys that will step up like they have all season.”

One of those players in the moment was senior receiver Traeshon Holden, who had a career-high 149 receiving yards on six catches in Oregon’s win over Michigan.

Though Holden was briefly sidelined due to his spitting incident against Ohio State Oct. 12, he has made amends and worked hard to be a contributor for the Ducks once again, per Lanning and the team.

Lanning was impressed with Holden’s blocking down the field on a screen pass to Kenyon Sadiq against Michigan, and said that Holden’s ability to block down the field and make the unselfish play has made him a standout during practices.
