On Tuesday, Matt Rhule was busy with staff hires, hiring Dana Holgorsen as an offensive assistant. They made a second move, hiring Phil Snow as a defensive consultant.

Snow has worked under Matt Rhule before. He was Temple’s defensive coordinator and safeties coach from 2013-2016. He followed Rhule to Baylor, where he was the defensive coordinator from 2017 to 2018. He added the role of safeties coach in 2019. He was also with Rhule as the defensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers from 2020-2022.

Snow most recently served as a senior defensive analyst for the Chicago Bears in 2023. His addition comes as the Nebraska football defense has struggled recently. Most recently, they gave up 358 total yards defensively. They currently rank eighth in the conference in total defense on the year.

The Huskers will have at least a week to implement these staff changes before they take on the USC Trojans next weekend.
