What schools are in the top 12 of the first College Football Playoff rankings?

The first iteration of the College Football Playoff rankings was released on Tuesday. Schools that have already played occupy the top two spots.

Oregon defeated Ohio State, 32-31, earlier in the season and sits at 9-0. The Buckeyes are second at 7-1.

The new format that sees a dozen teams qualify for the postseason tournament has, Oregon (Big Ten), Georgia (SEC), Miami (ACC), and BYU (Big 12) receiving first-round byes if these rankings held.

First-round games would be Boise State at Ohio State, Alabama at Texas, Notre Dame at Penn State, and Indiana at Tennessee if these wound up the final rankings, which is unlikely.

The Big Ten and SEC dominate the top eight spots before undefeated BYU pops in at No. 9.

Other undefeated schools are Miami at four, Indiana at eight, and Army at 25.

The first team with two losses in the rankings is Alabama at 11.

Notre Dame sits at 10 despite its loss to MAC school Northern Illinois.

The only school with three losses is No. 22 Louisville.
