Just how big is Michigan’s NIL package for Bryce Underwood?

Belleville QB Bryce Underwood throws a pass against Clarkston during the 2024 Xenith Prep Kickoff Classic at Wayne State’s Tom Adams Field in Detroit on Friday, Aug. 30, 2024.

We’ve heard some sizeable NIL totals tossed out over the years, but the speculation surrounding Michigan’s recruitment of five-star LSU football commit Bryce Underwood might be the biggest yet. According to recent reports, the Wolverines are working to put an eight-figure deal on the table.

NIL deals aren’t public, so there’s no way to confirm or rank the biggest NIL deals in the short history of NIL, but a 10-million offer would likely be near the top, if not the biggest.

“The website On3 initially reported a figure for Underwood may near $5 million, but multiple conversations CBS Sports and 247Sports have had with sources across the industry paint the real number to be something closer to double that,” CBS Sports’ Richard Johnson wrote.

The total would be paid out throughout several seasons.

We’re less than a month away from National Signing Day, but reports of Michigan’s surge have been swirling for a few weeks now. Underwood is one of the top QB recruits of all time and UM will do all it can to ensure a prospect of that caliber remains in the state.

According to On3, Underwood is the top overall prospect in the 2025 class. LSU landed Underwood behind the recruiting efforts of QB coach and offensive coordinator Joe Sloan. The Tigers are hoping Underwood’s relationship with Sloan is enough to get this recruitment over the finish line.
