Kent State football | Golden Flashes shut out by Ohio in Midweek MACtion game

KENT — Changing the day of the game didn’t change the result for the Kent State football team.

In their first Midweek MACtion game, the winless Golden Flashes lost 41-0 to Ohio on Wednesday in a Mid-American Conference game at Dix Stadium. The Bobcats led 10-0, 20-0 and 34-0 at the quarter stops. Ohio (6-3, 4-1) scored on a 96-yard kickoff return and a 61-yard punt return in the third quarter to break the game open.

Kent State quarterback Ruel Tomlinson hands off to running back Ky Thomas in the first half of their MAC game against Ohio University at Dix Stadium in Kent on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2024.

The loss spoiled an outstanding game by Kent State safety Josh Baka, who had a career-high 18 tackles, 12 of them solo stops.

Senior running back Ky Thomas led the Flashes (0-9, 0-5) with 50 yards on 15 carries and freshman quarterback Ruel Tomlinson completed 8 of 18 passes for 62 yards in his first start.
