OU football injury report: Deion Burks, Jalil Farooq questionable for Sooners vs Missouri

NORMAN — OU wide receivers Deion Burks and Jalil Farooq were once again listed as questionable on Wednesday night’s availability report.

Burks, who suffered a soft tissue injury against Tennessee on Sept. 21, has been listed as questionable in the last five weeks the Sooners have had availability reports. Farooq broke his foot in the season opener.

OU coach Brent Venables said during his weekly news conference Tuesday he was hopeful both are close to returning. Sooners quarterback Jackson Arnold seemingly hinted at their imminent returns after practice Tuesday evening.

“It opens up a lot of things,“ Arnold said of Burks and Farooq’s potential returns. “On top of that too, it just builds a whole lot of confidence for our offense. We’re going into this week like, ‘Damn, we’ve got two of our studs back at receiver.’ We have had guys play great at receiver, but it’s like, ‘You get two studs back,’ it’s a big confidence boost for the offense.”

In addition to Burks and Farooq, defensive lineman Adepoju Adebawore, offensive linemen Joshua Bates and Michael Tarquin, as well as running backs Jovantae Barnes and Gavin Sawchuk are listed as questionable to play in Saturday’s game against Missouri. Defensive lineman Ethan Downs is probable and offensive linemen Jacob Sexton and Jake Taylor are out.

Tigers quarterback Brady Cook, who is dealing with multiple injuries, is questionable to play. Missouri wide receiver Mookie Cooper is doubtful and running back Nate Noel is questionable.

Former OU offensive lineman Cayden Green is probable to play for the Tigers.
