Oswego, Maine South, Batavia, Mount Carmel and Geneva are picks to click for second round of the state playoffs.
York (8-2) at Oswego (10-0)
Kickoff: 6:30 p.m. Friday.
Matchup breakdown: Senior quarterback Bruno Massel, a track sprinter and three-time state qualifier, leads York in this Class 8A second-round game. Massel ran for 172 yards and four touchdowns and completed 11 of 11 passes for 65 yards and another TD in last week’s 37-7 win over Edwardsville.
Senior linebacker Angelo Martire had a sack for a safety among six tackles. Senior defensive back Aidan Link had seven tackles and an interception.
York finished third in West Suburban Silver with losses to Lyons and Downers Grove North.
The two teams have a common opponent in Plainfield North, with York winning 35-13 and Oswego 21-13.
Senior running back Ayden Villa and junior running back Dekker Zelensek rushed for 143 and 95 yards, respectively. Oswego also received two field goals from junior kicker Kaleb Stumpenhorst, who can be the difference in a tight game.
X-factor: Jeremiah Cain, Oswego, senior wide receiver/cornerback.

West Aurora (10-0) at Maine South (7-3)
Kickoff: 1 p.m. Saturday.
Matchup breakdown: The quarterbacks — West Aurora junior Mason Atkins and Maine South sophomore Jameson Purcell — should provide great theater. Atkins has passed for 1,436 yards with 31 TDs and no interceptions.
Purcell, who reportedly had 20 scholarship offers before taking first varsity snap, has shown why with tremendous growth during the season. The left-hander capped it with a 465-yard, six-TD performance last week in a 49-42 Class 8A first-round win over Naperville North.
