Michigan State football has returned to the weekly USA TODAY bowl projections.

After being left out for a few weeks, Erick Smith has once again added Michigan State to his weekly update of bowl projections. Smith has the Spartans landing in the Pinstripe Bowl facing off against Syracuse.

Michigan State has been a common pick for the Detroit Bowl this week, with both Action Network and CBS Sports slating the Spartans for that bowl. So Smith having Michigan State in the Pinstripe Bowl is a slightly better placement for the Spartans.

Michigan State is 4-5 overall and 2-4 in Big Ten play on the year after back-to-back losses the past two weeks. The Spartans will need to win two of its final three games against Illinois, Purdue and Rutgers to reach bowl eligibility.
