For the second time in three weeks, a member of ESPN’s “College GameDay” is returning to his former stomping grounds as a coach.
With “College GameDay” headed to Lafayette, Louisiana, for a matchup between No. 7 Alabama and No. 13 LSU, former Crimson Tide and Tigers coach Nick Saban is back in familiar territory. The SEC matchup between the two historic rivals will be significant for the second College Football Playoff rankings, due out next Tuesday.

With Alabama and LSU sitting at two losses apiece entering Saturday, the loser could be eliminated from contention from the 12-team CFP. The winner would set itself up nicely for a potential bid. The Crimson Tide were the lone two-loss team inside the top-12 for the first rankings released on Tuesday.
Saban, 72, coached LSU from 2000 to 2004, winning a national championship in 2003. He then coached Alabama from 2007 to 23 and won six more national championships. Lee Corso returned to Bloomington, Indiana, for the Hoosiers’ first Saturday “College GameDay” appearance in Week 9.
