It’s the most coveted individual award in all of sports — the Heisman Trophy.
Given annually to the player judged to be the best in college football, the Heisman has a long, storied history, with many Big Ten players being invited to New York, and winning the thing on multiple occasions. And in 2024, there are some conference players in the mix yet again. Often times, the best players — er quarterbacks — on the best teams seem to get the nod in these sort of things, and that’s the case again this season.
With Oregon, Indiana (surprise), Ohio State, and Penn State all in the top ten of the first release of the College Football Playoff rankings, you can pretty much guess which teams and players we are talking about.
We’ll continue to take a look at what Big Ten players are included in the BetMGM odds for the Heisman through the rest of the season by counting down from the least likely on the radar to the most likely. Here we go with where things stand now, after Week 10 of the college football season.

Why he could win it
Smith is a walking highlight, even as a freshman and is probably the most talented wide receiver in the country right out of high school. If Ohio State keeps winning and he shows out with spectacular catches in prime time, he’s got a very outside chance.
