A stellar season in New Lex leads to numerous Southeast District football honors

New Lexington football had one of its best seasons in years.

The Panthers were rewarded with several All Southeast District football honors.

The teams are selected by media within the district. The Times Recorder does not have a vote.

New Lexington quarterback Isaiah Stephens was tabbed the Division IV Offensive Player of the Year, and the Panthers’ Kevin Board shared Coach of the Year honors with Chillicothe Unioto’s Matt Hoops.

Stephens threw for 2,220 yards with 26 touchdowns and three interceptions and added 281 yards and five TDs on the ground during the regular season.

New Lexington senior wide receiver Bentley Hanson, sophomore offensive lineman Eli Stephens, senior running back Carson Kellogg and junior kicker Tristan Barrowman joined Stephens on First Team Offense, while linebackers, junior Harrison Ratliff and sophomore Tanner Toth, made First Team Defense.

Hanson had 43 catches for 1,065 yards and 13 TD’s to go with four interceptions and two defensive touchdowns in the secondary; Kellogg had 180 carries for 1,066 yards and 12 TD’s and 22 catches for 224 yards and 3 TD’s; Eli Stephens was the team’s highest graded lineman on an offense that is averaging 375 yards and 39 points per game; and Barrowman made 33 of 38 extra points, along with a pair of field goals.

Ratliff led the defense with 67 tackles, 5 tackles for a loss and two forced fumbles, and Toth contributed 65 tackles and four tackles for a loss.
