Brady Cook injury update: Missouri quarterback ruled out of game vs OU football

It’s Drew Pyne’s game.

Missouri football starting quarterback Brady Cook was ruled out for the Tigers’ game against Oklahoma on Saturday one night before the reunion between the old Big Eight and Big 12 rivals in Columbia. Cook was listed with an “out” designation on Missouri’s Friday evening availability report.

The quarterback had been listed as “questionable” on each of the Tigers’ Wednesday and Thursday reports. Now, the quarterback will not start for Mizzou for the first time since a Nov. 26, 2021, game at Arkansas, ending a 35-game streak.

All SEC teams are required to release reports each night in the three days leading up to an in-conference matchup and one final report 90 minutes before the game kicks off.

The quarterback followed almost the opposite trajectory to his week leading up to MU’s game against Alabama. He began that game week with a doubtful designation on the Wednesday report but was upgraded to questionable on the Thursday and Friday lists.

Cook was then listed as a game-time decision, but he ended up starting the game in Tuscaloosa with what was ruled a high-ankle sprain and played until the midpoint of the second quarter, when a separate injury to his hand/wrist area ended his day.

Mizzou will release one more report before facing Oklahoma, which will be published approximately 90 minutes before the 6:45 p.m. kickoff. That means the report should be expected…
