Nick Saban believes the Alabama Crimson Tide will win its first head-to-head matchup with the LSU Tigers with first-year coach Kalen DeBoer on the visiting team’s sidelines Saturday night in Tiger Stadium.
Saban made his prediction for Alabama-LSU from the set of “College GameDay,” which broadcast live from LSU’s campus Saturday ahead of the pivotal SEC showdown between the 11th-ranked Crimson Tide and the 13th-ranked Tigers.
To a chorus of boos and jeers, Saban picked Alabama.
“This is one of the most difficult things for me because getting a very welcome homecoming back here at LSU, having won a championship at LSU. But the biggest difference for me is I can’t really root against all the players that we recruited at Alabama, so I’ve got to go with Alabama.”
Fellow GameDay panelists Desmond Howard, Pat McAfee, and celebrity guest pickers Paul Skenes of the Pittsburgh Pirates and gymnast Livvie Dunne (both LSU alums) picked the Tigers to win.
Herbstreit, who is calling the game for ABC with Chris Fowler, does not offer predictions on games he is providing analysis for.
Lee Corso’s Alabama-LSU headgear pick
As for Lee Corso? The beloved analyst and Saturday morning staple chose Mike the Tiger for his weekly headgear selection, giving the GameDay crew a 5-to-1 pick of LSU to beat Alabama.
