Nov. 8—Some numbers that help explain what kind of season it has been for Purdue, which is Ohio State’s opponent on Saturday at Ohio Stadium:
0 — The number of Big Ten games the Boilermakers have won this season. That puts them in last place in the 18-team Big Ten standings, which is exactly where they were predicted to be in a preseason media poll.
1.5 — Purdue coach Ryan Walters was only 1.5 years into a 5-year contract when the Indianapolis Star recently ran a story which pointed out how much it would cost to buy out his contract.
2 — The Boilermakers’ starting quarterback Hudson Card has missed two games when he was in the concussion protocol.
4 — The number of games Purdue offensive coordinator Graham Harrell coached this season before Walters fired him on Sept. 30 and replaced him with offensive analyst Jason Simmons.
5 — The number of recruits who have decommitted from Purdue since the season began. Those five include two Ohio recruits — Dawayne Galloway, a 4-star cornerback from Columbus Marian Franklin, and 3-star defensive tackle Drayden Pavey of Cincinnati Taft.
7 — Purdue has lost seven games in a row since opening the season with a 49-0 win over FCS Indiana State.
11 — The number of recruits still committed to Purdue’s 2025 recruiting class. That recruiting class ranks last in the Big Ten in 247sports’ rankings.
119 — Purdue is 119th nationally in scoring at 20.2 points a game.
129 — Purdue is 129th nationally in points per game allowed.
If everything goes according to plan for No. 3 Ohio State (7-1, 4-1 Big Ten) its starters should be on the sideline encouraging the subs by the fourth quarter or sooner.
Notre Dame got the second team in early in a 66-7 win over the Boilermakers and so did Wisconsin in a 52-6 win. Purdue’s best game of the season might have been taking Illinois into overtime…
