ATLANTA — A week after he became Miami’s all-time receiving yards leader, Xavier Restrepo set another UM record.
With his first catch of the game, Restrepo passed Mike Harley Jr. (who had 182 career catches) to become Miami’s all-time leader in receptions.
Restrepo is also climbing the list of all-time touchdown catches at UM. Entering Saturday’s game, his 19 touchdown catches is tied for seventh all-time in program history.
However, Restrepo has repeated that the team’s success is more important to him than his personal success.
“Without any of the team success, none of this would matter at all,” Restrepo said last week.
Mario Cristobal on Cam McCormick’s future
Tight end Cam McCormick made history as the first college football player to spend nine years on teams’ rosters. Although this is his last year of eligibility, the 26-year-old McCormick has a future in football, Mario Cristobal said.
“I think he’s going to play in the NFL for a good, long while,” Cristobal said. “The thing is, yeah, Cam had to go through some injuries. But Cam is healthy. Cam is super smart and Cam has seen a lot of football, man. He has been in every imaginable offensive set, play call and he is an absolute sponge. On special teams, as well, he’s incredible. And then his leadership — you watch him and Elijah Arroyo when our defense is huddling up on the field during a timeout. The way they come over and bring energy and truly, genuine, ‘Let’s go. Let’s go get this thing done.’ … It’s from the heart and it’s genuine and it’s real.”
Cristobal said he thinks McCormick would be a good fit as a coach, if the tight end chose that route.
“We always, at the tail end of their careers, we always try to grab guys like that and bring them into coaching because we are firm believers that young people need more…
