Travis Hunter had to wait until the second half to get into the end zone against Texas Tech on Saturday. But when the Colorado star got there, weaving his way for a 24-yard touchdown catch on a WR screen that gave the Buffaloes a double-digit lead after trailing 13-0 to start the Week 11 game in Lubbock, Texas, he had a very 2024 celebration in mind.
Hunter made his latest touchdown celebration an interactive experience, and perhaps a major brand-building opportunity, with another nod to YouTube star and Twitch streamer Kai Cenat. Hunter, through his TikTok page, posted a stream with Cenat before Saturday’s game in which Cenat taught him a touchdown celebration if he were to get the opportunity in Colorado’s game at Texas Tech.
Hunter has done several celebrations in conjunction with Cenat, who boasts more than 14 million followers on TikTok. Hunter has emerged as a leading Heisman Trophy candidate in his second year playing both wide receiver and cornerback at Colorado. He is among the top prospects in the 2025 NFL draft class and now has eight touchdowns for the 2024 season.
No. 24 Colorado is in the midst of a resurgence under coach Deion Sanders, who brought Hunter and his son, quarterback Shedeur Sanders, with him when he arrived in Boulder from Jackson State ahead of the 2023 season. The Buffaloes are in contention for the Big 12 championship game and, perhaps, a spot in the first 12-team College Football Playoff.
Hunter is a big reason why, and it appears he’s having a blast with his college experience.
On Saturday, for instance, he took a tortilla thrown at him by a Texas Tech fan and shoved it down his pants. Then came the social media-inspired touchdown celebration, and by then Colorado had a comfortable lead.
