LSU was blown out by Alabama on its home field Saturday night with the final score being 42-13.

The Tigers’ performance is reflected in the latest US LBM Coaches Poll as LSU fell all the way to No. 22. LSU is just behind No. 21 Missouri and just ahead of No. 23 South Carolina.

The poll includes nine SEC teams. Alabama rose to No. 9 after the win.

LSU’s loss all but crushed its playoff and conference title hopes. The Tigers entered at 6-2 eyeing a November push, but those dreams are over now. With three games remaining, LSU will look for a 9-3 regular season for a third straight year.

The Tigers were underdogs on Saturday night, but nobody expected a margin that big. For LSU head coach Brian Kelly, it was his first time losing a home night game with the program.

Next up for LSU is a road trip to Florida. LSU should be the favorite in that one, but the Tigers will get the Gators best shot as Billy Napier looks to build late season momentum.
