CLEMSON — Clemson football is on track to play in its fourth straight non-CFP bowl game.
The No. 16 Tigers (7-2, 6-1 ACC) had expectations to make the expanded playoffs, but their 33-21 home loss to No. 24 Louisville last week derailed those hopes. They still have a slim chance at an at-large bid for the CFP and the ACC championship for an automatic bid, but they need to win out and help from others.
As a result, Clemson’s season will likely end in one of the 10 ACC bowl games. It made the CFP for six straight years from 2015 through 2020, but it has declined to play in the Cheez-It Bowl in 2021, Orange Bowl in 2022 and Gator Bowl last season. With its 2024 record, it will likely play in the DirecTV Holiday Bowl or Pop-Tarts Bowl if it misses the College Football Playoff.
