Penn State report card vs. Washington

Grading Penn State on its 35-6 win over Washington Saturday night at Beaver Stadium:

Quarterbacks

A: Drew Allar threw some pretty passes and avoided sacks without a turnover. Beau Pribula made an impact in a limited role.

Running backs

A: Kaytron Allen, Nick Singleton and freshman Corey Smith combined for 260 yards from scrimmage.

Receivers

B: Tyler Warren and Harrison Wallace III had productive games and made caches for explosive gains. Julian Fleming scored his first TD for the Lions.

Offensive linemen

B: They made a big rebound and allowed Penn State to gain 486 total yards and average 6.6 per rush.

Defensive linemen

A: Abdul Carter was unblockable and Alonzo Ford was a rock at tackle. The front four helped limit Washington to 74 rushing yards, 2.2 per carry.

Linebackers

B: Kobe King was outstanding with seven tackles, including a sack, but Dominic DeLuca and Tony Rojas combined for one tackle.

Defensive backs

B: Jaylen Reed made his third interception of the season and seven tackles. Zakee Wheatley continued his in-season progression.

Special teams

C: A holding penalty wiped out Nick Singleton’s 97-yard kickoff return for a touchdown and Ryan Barker had the first miss of his career.

Coaches

A: The Lions showed no signs of a letdown after the loss to Ohio State. Play-calling on offense was much better than it was last week.
