Everything HC Mike Elko said ahead of Texas A&M’s Week 12 matchup vs. New Mexico State

Texas A&M (7-2, 5-1 SEC) is one of three SEC teams that still have total control over their postseason destinies, joining Texas and Tennessee as the only one-loss conference programs with two games left in the 2024 regular season. After the Aggies’ Week 11 bye week, head coach Mike Elko remains focused on fixing the issues that led to A&M’s 44-20 loss to South Carolina.

Knowing that the offense will be without star running back Le’Veon Moss for the rest of the year, junior back Amari Daniels has been thrust into the spotlight, while senior running back EJ Smith is now the primary backup. However, freshman wide receiver Terry Bussey could see more time in the backfield to provide more depth to an already thin group.

Defensively, Texas A&M’s tackling issues resulted in 25 missed tackles against South Carolina. This area should greatly improve against New Mexico State, starting with linebackers Taurean York and Scooby Williams.
