A huge college football game is coming to Gillette Stadium in Foxborough.
For the first time ever, Gillette Stadium will host the Navy-Notre Dame, one of the biggest rivalry games in college football.
The game won’t take place for almost two years from now, though, in 2026.
“The extraordinary effort put forth by the Kraft Group, the New England Patriots and the entire New England area for the 2023 Army-Navy Game made it logical to bring back another great rivalry, the 99th playing of the Navy-Notre Dame Game, to Gillette Stadium…,” Naval Academy Director of Athletics Chet Gladchuk said in a release. “The Boston area is a terrific place to visit in the fall and I have no doubt both Navy and Notre Dame fans will pack Gillette Stadium.”
Here’s more about the Navy-Notre Dame game.
When will the game take place?
It will happen at Gillette Stadium on Oct. 31, 2026.
Why is the Navy-Notre Dame a ‘famous’ matchup?
The matchup of the two teams goes back to 1927.
“The series was the longest continuous intersectional rivalry in college football, playing 93 consecutive years from 1927-2019, before COVID-19 canceled the 2020 game,” a release noted.
This series has been played 99 times throughout history, and this is only the first time the matchup has ever been played in the region.
The matchup will be the Fighting Irish’s first time playing at Gillette Stadium. It’s the Navy’s second time, as the Army-Navy matchup was played at Gillette in 2023.

Who will be the home team for the game?
Navy will be the home team for the game and Notre Dame will be the visiting team.
Can tickets for the game be purchased now?
No, and it won’t be known until a “later date,” according to Gillette Stadium officials.
