As Texas improved to 9-1 during the 2004 season with a 27-23 victory, the Longhorns leaned on their rushing attack. Young’s touchdown pass to Tony Jeffery with 11 seconds left won the game for Texas, but the quarterback also rushed for 114 yards and a score. Meanwhile, Benson ran 28 times for 161 yards and a touchdown.
That was the fourth and final time that Benson and Young both rushed for 100 yards in the same game. That’s the most of any duo in UT’s history.
Benson and Young respectively rank second and seventh in career rushing yards at Texas. Benson was inducted into the Texas Hall of Honor in 2014 while Young was enshrined the following year.
