Hope will could return to Gator Nation this Saturday as Florida football coach Billy Napier announced that freshman QB DJ Lagway will be “ready to play” for the Gators vs. No. 22 LSU at the Swamp.
Napier made the announcement during Gator Talk on WRUF at Miller’s Ale House in Gainesville.

Lagway injured his hamstring in the second quarter of Florida’s 34-20 loss to Georgia. He didn’t return in Jacksonville, and despite being a game-time decision, he missed UF’s 49-17 loss at Texas last week.
Napier said the injury wasn’t as serious as expected and that Lagway practiced in a modified form this week.
“I do think we are creating a game-day environment in terms of the treatment and modifications we’re using, you know, just to make sure he’s comfortable with that,” Napier said during Wednesday evening’s press conference.
The Gators badly needed the freshman back. The offense, led by redshirt freshman and Yale transfer Aidan Warner, struggled vs. the Longhorns.

Florida (4-5, 2-4 SEC) needs two wins in its last three games (home for LSU and Ole Miss and at FSU) to avoid missing a bowl game for the second season in a row.
Should Lagway get the nod to start on Saturday, it will be his fourth start of the season.
In eight games in his maiden voyage, Lagway has thrown for 1,071 yards with six touchdowns and five interceptions.
