FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas football head coach Sam Pittman promised changes and better play in the secondary in the two weeks since the Hogs suffered a 63-31 drubbing at the hands of Ole Miss.
Even in a 20-10 defeat Saturday, the Razorbacks (5-5, 3-4 SEC) delivered on that pledge against Texas.
The Longhorns entered Saturday averaging 38.9 points, 466.2 yards and 301.1 yards passing per game. Against Arkansas, Texas finished with 315 yards, and only 176 came through the air.
“I thought it worked, you know. We got beat on a double-move early down here in this (north) end zone,” Arkansas coach Sam Pittman said. “Other than that, I just didn’t feel like we cut people loose.”

The Razorbacks added a defensive back, reverting back to a 3-2-6 formation, and ushered in four new starters along their secondary this week. Hudson Clark and Kee’yon Stewart were the cornerbacks, while Miguel Mitchell and Larry Worth got starts at safety. Jayden Johnson was the third safety and Doneiko Slaughter was the nickel back, representing the lone two holdovers from Ole Miss.
“I think this week we had an emphasis on running the ball and effort and giving those guys that deserve to play a right and a chance to start,” Arkansas safety Hudson Clark said.
