The 2024 college football season has not gone how Oklahoma State football coach Mike Gundy had planned.
Following a 3-0 start to the season, which included a win over the SEC’s Arkansas in overtime, the Cowboys (3-7, 0-7 Big 12) have gone winless in conference play and lost seven in a row overall. OSU has been outscored 118-62 in the last three games, exacerbating the struggles.
The Cowboys had huge expectations for running back Ollie Gordon II coming into the season, with his name even mentioned as a dark horse for the Heisman Trophy award. However, he has averaged a career-low 4.2 yards per carry, with 714 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns in 10 games. He had 1,732 yards and 21 touchdowns last season.

The 18 straight bowl game appearances are currently the sixth longest in the country. In-state rival Oklahoma has reached a bowl game in 25 consecutive seasons (second longest in the nation), which is also at risk.
