Florida football vs No. 22 LSU live score updates, highlights how to watch Week 12 game

The return of freshman quarterback DJ Lagway could be the spark that Florida football needs to finish the 2024 season on the right note.

The Florida Gators (4-5, 2-4 SEC) host No. 22 LSU (6-3, 3-2 SEC) on Saturday at The Swamp needing to win two of their final three games to become bowl eligible. After LSU, Florida will face No. 11 Ole Miss in its home finale before closing the season at rival Florida State.

Florida failed to make a bowl last season, finishing the year 5-7. UF hasn’t gone back-to-back years without making a bowl since a three-year stretch from 1984-86, which included two seasons in which UF was on NCAA probation.

“It’s definitely very important for me,” said Florida defensive lineman TJ Searcy, when asked about making a bowl. “It means a lot because last year I didn’t get one, so I definitely want to experience one.”

The 6-foot-3, 239-pound Lagway has shown poise and big-play throwing ability as a true freshman, passing for 1,071 yards on the season with 6 TDs to 5 interceptions. He’s averaging 11.6 yards per completion.

Florida coach Billy Napier enters the matchup 15-19 overall and 2-14 against ranked teams. Brian Kelly is 26-10 in his third season coaching at LSU.
