NEWARK — In a season of firsts, chalk up another one for the Golden Knights.
No. 2 seed Northmor beat No. 3 seed Ridgewood 21-7 Friday night in a Division VI, Region 23 semifinal football game from Newark’s White Field. It will be Northmor’s first trip to a regional championship in football, having lost two other times in the regional semifinals, including last year.

The Knights (13-0) went undefeated for the first time in school history and won the Knox Morrow Athletic Conference title for the first time as well. It was their first conference trophy in football since 1982.

On Friday against the Generals (11-2), the game turned on a Northmor goal-line stand with 1:31 left in the half, stopping them inches from the end zone. After a 15-yard penalty following the stop put them at the 16, Northmor quarterback A.J. Bower hit Jax Wenger for two big gains and then found Bo Landin for a 28-yard TD and a 7-0 lead right before halftime.
