It took a bit to get going, but once Ohio State did, things rolled towards another victory — the Buckeyes’ ninth on the season — en route to a convincing 31-7 victory inside the venerable “friendly confines” of Wrigley Field on the north side of Chicago.
The win keeps OSU on target for all of its lofty goals it had to start the season, including winning the Big Ten championship, making the College Football Playoff, and winning a national championship. There are now two games left to keep all of that on the table in the regular season, but first, we’re here to take stock in what we learned from this game against Northwestern.
Win or lose, we like to reflect and pick out five things we think we learned from each Ohio State football game and so we’re doing the same for this one. Here are five things we learned from the Buckeyes’ victory over Northwestern Saturday.
Game plans work, but eventually the dam breaks against Ohio State

What we learned
Ohio State knows it’ll get every team’s best shot. It seems to happen more often than not that coaching staffs come in with a pretty good plan to make things interesting early on. The same happened Saturday afternoon when the Wildcats moved the ball with precision down the field in its first two drives, scoring a touchdown on the second one.
