PITTSBURGH — Clemson football freshman linebacker Sammy Brown was ejected for targeting in the second quarter of Saturday’s game against Pitt.
It occurred on third-and-17 when Brown hit Panthers quarterback Nate Yarnell in the head after he threw the ball. Officials called roughing the penalty and targeting, later confirming the ruling after a review. Brown will miss the remainder of Saturday’s game but can play in Clemson’s next game against The Citadel next Saturday.

Brown’ ejection came on third-and-long as Clemson put Yarnell under duress in the first half to record four sacks. His late hit gave Pitt an automatic first down but no points as Clemson’s defense forced it to punt.

Clemson received a 15-yard penalty for targeting, and Pitt earned an automatic first down.
Brown was ejected from the game in the second quarter. Since it happened in the first half, he will miss the rest of Saturday’s game against Pittsburgh but can play in Clemson’s next game vs. The Citadel next Saturday.
