What CSU football coach Jay Norvell said after Rams won the Bronze Boot

The CSU football team has won five games in a row and the Bronze Boot is back in Fort Collins.

The Rams beat Wyoming 24-10 Friday night in front of a capacity crowd at Canvas Stadium.

CSU now has two rivalry wins this season and is still on pace for a Mountain West title game appearance.

Here’s what CSU coach Jay Norvell said after winning the Bronze Boot.

Jay Norvell opening thoughts on win over Wyoming

“I’m just really proud of our team, our coaches, our staff, everybody associated with CSU football. To have so many people contribute in a game, that was meaningful. It’s really satisfying. We had a lot of guys hurt tonight. We had a lot of guys get hurt, get banged up and guys just stepped up in their absence. As a coach, it’s incredibly satisfying. I keep reflecting back to my own college days. Our football team reminds me of my college years at Iowa where our guys just fought for each other. They did not care who got the credit. They weren’t worried about stats. They just wanted to not let their teammates down. That’s rare in football right now. I just did a radio deal and in this era of transfer portal and NIL, there’s a lot of selfishness in college football. To have a bunch of guys fight for each other and prepare for each other and not want to let each other down in competition, it doesn’t happen every weekend. I’m so proud of that.”

Jay Norvell on CSU’s performance

“Our defense holding them to 10 points is fantastic. We talked about that. We talked about out-rushing this football team. We had 44 rush attempts for 248 yards. It’s not pretty all the time, especially in the second half, but there is a meaning to that and there’s an effectiveness to that when you do it.
