Yet another week of SEC football action has now officially come and gone, with the conference’s championship game picture only becoming cloudier from Saturday’s results.
Yes, after the Georgia Bulldogs upset the Tennessee Volunteers on Saturday night in Athens, it now means that there are only two one-loss SEC teams remaining in conference play. However, how does that matchup, as well as others from this past Saturday, affect the SEC standings?
Let’s answer that question by taking a look at the updated SEC conference standings coming out of Week 12.
Updated SEC Football Standings after Week 12
T-1. Texas, Texas A&M (5-1)
3. Georgia (6-2)
4. Tennessee (5-2)
T-5. Alabama, Ole Miss (4-2)
7. South Carolina (5-3)
T-8. Missouri, LSU, Vanderbilt (3-3)
T-11. Arkansas, Florida (3-4)
T-13. Oklahoma, Auburn (1-5)
15. Kentucky (1-6)
16. Mississippi State (0-6)
As mentioned previously, there are now only two SEC teams remaining with only one conference loss in Texas and Texas A&M, but that will not remain that way for long as the Longhorns and Aggies play each other in two weeks.
Alabama still sits at 4-2 overall in SEC play ahead of their Week 13 trip to Oklahoma, with rival Auburn lurking right after that. The Crimson Tide, should they win both of those games, could potentially have themselves in a position to make it to Atlanta for the SEC Championship Game, but would still need some help in order to do that.
