In-state flip: Florida football lands commitment from QB Tramell Jones Jr. after FSU de-commitment

DJ Lagway isn’t even done with his first season at Florida, but Billy Napier has already found a potential successor.

The Gators secured a commitment from Tramell Jones Jr. Sunday evening. The 4-star QB is from Mandarin High School in Jacksonville.

Jones decommited from FSU Thursday and took an official visit to Florida Saturday for the win vs. LSU, like many Class of 2025 prospects.

On3 reported that Jones committed to Florida during his official visit. Jones confirmed the news by reposting Napier on X, formerly known as Twitter. The coach posted the sunglasses emoji, like he usually does when Florida lands a top commitment.

247 composite ranks him as the 21st best QB in the Class of 2025, and No. 36 in Florida.

The 12th commit in Florida’s class, Jones’ decision boosts UF up the team rankings from 44 to 33.

He was later named the Florida Dairy Farmers Class 4M Player of the Year.

Prior to the season, Jones was named to the Elite 11 national quarterback showcase, an honor bestowed in the past on current NFL quarterbacks like Matthew Stafford and Kyler Murray.

He was also selected to the Florida Times-Union preseason Super 11 list.
