How offensive line injuries are affecting Clemson football’s depth chart for Citadel game

CLEMSON — Clemson football released its Week 13 depth chart Monday, with notable changes on the offensive line.

Freshman offensive lineman Elyjah Thurmon was removed from the list after he suffered a season-ending injury in his first career start Saturday vs. Pitt. His injury came after Clemson coach Dabo Swinney announced last week that backup offensive lineman Collin Sadler was out for the season with a calf injury.

Starting left tackle Tristan Leigh was out against Pitt after suffering an ankle injury on the opening drive Nov. 9 against Virginia Tech, and starting left guard Marcus Tate missed Clemson’s past two games with an undisclosed injury. Despite Leigh and Tate’s injuries, they are still listed as starters on the depth chart.

The No. 16 Tigers (8-2, 7-1 ACC) added freshman offensive lineman Mason Wade as the backup tackle behind Leigh and Blake Miller. Wade has played in three games this season and can’t redshirt if he plays in Clemson’s final two games.

Other notable changes include freshman cornerback Ashton Hampton becoming an “or” starter with Jeadyn Lukus, and defensive lineman Peter Woods becoming a starter at defensive tackle instead of end.

Clemson will face The Citadel (5-6, 3-5 Southern) on Saturday (3:30 ET, The CW) and in-state rival No. 19 South Carolina on Nov. 30. The Tigers are hoping these final two games, both at home, will improve their College Football Playoff résumé. Clemson also will be rooting against No. 10 Miami and No. 12 SMU in the last two weeks in hopes of making the ACC championship.

Here’s Clemson’s full depth chart before it faces The Citadel on Saturday:
