Ohio State star freshman wide receiver Jeremiah Smith is doing fine after his left ankle was injured in last Saturday’s win at Northwestern.
During his weekly news conference on Tuesday, coach Ryan Day said Smith would be available this week against Indiana, giving a brief update on his status for the top-five matchup with the Hoosiers.
“Good to go,” Day said.
Ohio State Buckeyes wide receiver Jeremiah Smith (4) runs around Northwestern Wildcats defensive back Josh Fussell (13) during the NCAA football game at Wrigley Field in Chicago on Monday, Nov. 18, 2024. Ohio State won 31-7.
Smith’s left ankle was twisted by Robert Fitzgerald, a safety for the Wildcats, at the end of a tackle following his catch and run for 68 yards during the third quarter.
It did not prompt Smith, who finished with four receptions for 100 yards, to leave the game. He did not catch a pass following the tackle, but carried the ball for a gain of 2 yards later in the third quarter.
Smith’s ankle was wrapped up in tape when he left Wrigley Field to board the team bus.

The Buckeyes submitted the late ankle-twisting tackle to the Big Ten for a review, but Day said they had not received a response from the conference. Fitzgerald was not flagged during the game.
