2024 Texas high school football playoffs: Big Country area round matchups (Nov. 21-23)

After a competitive and exciting bi-district round kicked off postseason action last week, the Big Country’s best teams on the gridiron are ready to keep rolling into the area round the 2024 Texas high school football playoffs this weekend.

The top teams in Texas high school football will continue their chase for a UIL state championship in Round 2 of six this weekend, with area round playoff games starting Thursday, Nov. 21, and wrapping up Saturday, Nov. 23.

Here’s a closer look at the full slate of second-round games for Big Country teams during the area round of the 2024 Texas (UIL) high school football playoffs:

CLASS 5A, DIVISION I:

Abilene High (8-3) vs. Aledo (10-1), 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22, at Newsom Stadium in Mansfield

Abilene Wylie (9-1) vs. Anna (8-3), 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22, at Wildcat Stadium in Godley

Brownwood (6-4) vs. Canyon West Plains (8-3), 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22, at Tiger Stadium in Snyder

Stephenville (10-1) vs. Hereford (8-3), 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, at Shotwell Stadium in Abilene
