Texas football coach Steve Sarkisian said wide receiver DeAndre Moore Jr. is “progressing this week” after suffering a foot injury in the Longhorns’ most recent victory over Arkansas.
“We’ll see if he’ll be ready to go here Saturday,” Sarkisian said on a call with reporters Wednesday. “But we’re surely a better team when he’s out there.”
Moore ranks fifth on the team with 263 receiving yards, but the box score often fails to accurately represent Moore’s impact on the game.

The 6-foot, 195-pound sophomore from California is an outstanding blocker, even being tasked with blocking defensive ends in the run game against Arkansas and Florida.
“While he was doing all the dirty work blocking, the ball wasn’t really coming his way early in the season,” Sarkisian said. “There was no complaining. There was no, ‘When am I going to get mine?’ And then, sure enough, he has an onslaught there of a few games where the ball was finding him and he was creating explosive plays.”
Moore’s production has tended to come in bunches.

Moore’s official injury status for Saturday’s game against Kentucky will be revealed on the SEC-mandated availability report set to be released on Wednesday night.
