It’s already been decided Jackson State football will host the 2024 SWAC championship against Southern.
The No. 17 Tigers (9-2, SWAC 7-0) play the Jaguars (7-4, 6-1) at Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium on Dec. 7 (1 p.m., ESPN2). JSU holds the tiebreaker against Southern after winning 33-15 on Sept. 14.
The SWAC Championship is played at the home stadium of either the East or West division champion. The division champion with the best conference record hosts the championship game.
JSU has the best conference record in the SWAC. JSU will host no matter the outcome of its final regular season game Saturday (2 p.m. ESPN+) against rival Alcorn State (6-5, 5-2).
Southern clinched its spot in the SWAC championship game last week with a 31-9 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff. On Saturday, the Jaguars will end their regular season against Grambling State.

The SWAC title game will be broadcast on ESPN2.
This will be the second time the Tigers will be featured on national television this season. JSU defeated Florida A&M 35-21 on ESPNU on Oct. 19.

SWAC champion advances to Cricket Celebration Bowl
The winner of the SWAC title game will advance to the Cricket Celebration Bowl in Atlanta at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Dec. 14 (11 a.m., ABC) against MEAC champion South Carolina State (8-3, 4-0 MEAC).
JSU has made two appearances in the Cricket Celebration Bowl during the 2021 and 2022 seasons and lost both times.
