Northwest announces change in football leadership

Nov. 19—Northwest Missouri State University will not renew football head coach Rich Wright’s contract, effective Dec. 31.

Wright finished his eighth season as the leader of the Bearcat program on Saturday, losing 23-7 to Pittsburg State, marking a 6-5 overall record and 6-4 in MIAA play.

Director of Athletics Dr. Andy Peterson said a national search will begin for the next head football coach for the Bearcats.

Co-defensive coordinator/linebackers coach Chad Bostwick has agreed to serve as interim head coach until a new leader is selected.
